Cheese Converting Production Worker

We are seeking a diligent and dependable Cheese Packaging Production Worker to join our team. This role focuses on the efficient and accurate packaging of cheese products, ensuring the finished product is properly sealed, labeled, and prepared for shipment. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, have attention to detail, and be dedicated to maintaining quality standards throughout the packaging process. Our hours are Monday - Thursday 6am - 4pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cheese Packaging:
• Package cheese products according to company specifications, including portioning, sealing, and labeling.
• Use automated packaging machinery to cut and package cheese into various formats (e.g., blocks, slices, etc.).
• Ensure all cheese products are properly sealed to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
• Labeling & Quality Control:
• Ensure accurate labeling of all cheese products, verifying product type, weight, expiration date, and other relevant details.
• Inspect packaged cheese for defects, such as tears, improper seals, or incorrect labeling, and take corrective action when necessary.
• Perform routine quality checks to ensure packaging meets both company and regulatory standards.
• Machine Operation & Maintenance:
• Operate and maintain packaging equipment, such as wrapping machines, vacuum sealers, and labeling machines.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Ensure that all machines are properly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with food safety standards.
• Product Organization & Storage:
• Organize packaged cheese products on pallets, ensuring they are stacked correctly and safely.
• Transfer packaged products to cold storage or shipping areas in a timely manner.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hairnets, and aprons to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in the packaging area to meet company, health, and safety regulations.
• Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other production staff to ensure that packaging timelines and production goals are met.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding production issues, delays, or quality concerns.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food production or packaging, especially in a dairy or cheese production environment, is a plus.
• Skills:
• Ability to operate basic packaging machinery and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling labeling and product inspection.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and quality standards.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in cold storage environments and handling refrigerated products.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced production area with exposure to refrigerated environments.
• Exposure to noise from machinery and the operation of automated packaging equipment.
• The role requires strict adherence to cleanliness and food safety standards.
