Job Summary
We provide non-medical home health care services. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide patient observation to monitor health status and respond appropriately to changes or emergencies
- Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs in accordance with dietary guidelines
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and perform heavy lifting when necessary to ensure safety during transfers
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through light cleaning duties to promote a healthy environment
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and facility policies
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other disabilities
- Support residents during outings or community activities to promote social engagement and independence
- Follow safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures; participate in ongoing training as required
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, home health, hospice care, or long-term care environments
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques, vital signs assessment, and dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Strong understanding of medication administration and care plan implementation
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of resident information
- Experience working with people with autism or other special needs is preferred
- Basic cooking skills for meal prep; ability to assist residents with nutritional needs
- Knowledge of social work principles related to community-based support services is a plus
