Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Podiatry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Assist podiatrists with patient evaluations, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields for procedures such as suturing, wound care, and minor surgical interventions.
- Administer injections including Botulinum toxin treatments for conditions like hyperhidrosis or spasticity under physician supervision.
- Perform venipuncture and IV insertions for medication administration and laboratory specimen collection.
- Manage patient care plans involving acute pain management, infection control, and post-procedure monitoring.
- Educate patients on foot health, wound care techniques, footwear recommendations, and injury prevention strategies.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties including orthopedics, infectious disease care, geriatrics, and behavioral health to ensure holistic patient management.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current state registration required.
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing or hospital medicine settings; critical care experience highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with documentation standards like ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to podiatric care.
- Competence in aseptic technique, sterile processing, suturing, and wound management.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments including assisted living or nursing homes preferred.
- Ability to perform patient assessments involving vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluation procedures like sonography or laboratory testing.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and case management; comfort working with diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), IV infusion certification, and phlebotomy training are required; additional training in trauma medicine or emergency room procedures is advantageous.
