The surgical technologist is an allied health professional who works with surgeons and other health care practitioners providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures Performs other duties as assigned. • BCLS within 120 days of employment
• 2 years experience as a surgical technologist
• Experience scrubbing in multiple specialties
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English For Lakeside Women's Hospital:
• Knowledge of preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies preferred Radiology / Cath Lab Only:
• 6 months experience in angiography preferred
• Experience with PTA and PTCA, laser PTA/PTCA, and intra-aortic balloon pump
