Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical leadership and coordination of medical care across Integrea’s residential programs. This role ensures high-quality, person-centered nursing services are delivered in compliance with medical standards and regulatory guidelines. The RN oversees comprehensive health planning, supports interdisciplinary treatment teams, and plays a critical role in helping consumers maintain stability, independence, and safety in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical and Medical Oversight
- Conduct nursing assessments and develop individualized health care recommendations related to medical, dietary, hygiene, and behavioral needs.
- Monitor the medical condition of consumers across residential programs, ensuring timely response to acute and chronic health concerns.
- Collaborate regularly with physicians, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and the Director of Nursing on care coordination.
- Review vitals, weight, seizure records, and other critical health indicators.
- Oversee infection control procedures and emergency medical readiness (e.g., kits, protocols).
- Medication Management
- Administer medications and ensure accurate implementation of all physician orders.
- Accept and document verbal/phone orders in accordance with policy; ensure physician signature follow-up.
- Prepare and audit Medication Administration Records (MARs) monthly and for all new admissions.
- Monitor and inventory all medications for proper storage, labeling, and expiration tracking.
- Educate consumers, families, and MAC/LPN staff on medication safety and side effects.
- Team and Consumer Support
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and team meetings to support placement stability and health outcomes.
- Provide direct care guidance and medical support to residential staff, especially in situations involving medically fragile or behaviorally complex individuals.
- Offer individual and group health education to consumers and their families, covering topics such as nutrition, sexual health, hygiene, and self-care.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date nursing notes, incident reports, and health-related documentation in compliance with agency policy and licensure standards.
- Ensure timely scheduling and follow-up for all medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments.
- Support ongoing licensure audits, accreditation readiness, and internal quality improvement initiatives.
- Training and Mentorship
- Mentor and train LPNs and MAC-certified staff to ensure safe, consistent, and effective delivery of medication and health services.
- Lead or participate in in-service trainings and team education related to psychotropic medications, chronic conditions, infection control, and trauma-informed care.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the State of Alabama
- Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience (behavioral health or community-based care preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent, and recovery-focused care
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently across multiple sites.

Transportation Requirements:
- May provide transportation for consumers as needed using agency or personal vehicles.
- Maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license with personal liability insurance.
- Follow all agency transportation policies, including seatbelt usage, safe cellphone practices, and vehicle documentation.
- Immediately report any vehicle issues, accidents, or violations to appropriate personnel.

Work Environment & Schedule:
- This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST.
- This position requires in-person work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
- Requires travel between multiple community sites.
- Fast-paced environment involving direct interaction with consumers and staff.
In-Service Training & Continued Education Requirements:
- Participation in all agency-required in-service trainings.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health.
- Completion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
- Maintain licensure and participate in ongoing education related to mental health, ID/DD care, and medication administration.
