Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual needs and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, art therapy, and crisis intervention to promote mental health stability.
- Provide specialized therapy for clients with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, gender issues, or substance use concerns, ensuring culturally sensitive approaches.
- Collect and document accurate medical records, treatment progress notes, and behavioral data in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Coordinate case management activities by collaborating with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community resources to support holistic patient care.
- Manage crisis situations effectively by implementing conflict management strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to behavioral health trends, medical terminology, applied behavior analysis, and new therapeutic modalities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in home & community care settings or with children and families in behavioral health contexts.
- Strong background in data collection, medical documentation, and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Expertise in addiction counseling, social work principles, behavioral therapy techniques, and mental health counseling methods.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools for mental health assessment and experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA), crisis intervention strategies, psychotherapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and group therapy facilitation.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children with autism or developmental disabilities; experience with special education is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for intake procedures, patient assessment discussions, conflict resolution, and gender issues counseling.
