Job Title: Project Engineer
Duration: 12 Months (Contract)

Pay Rate: Upto $64.00 per hour
Shift Timing: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible / Plant-dependent; may include weekends or installation-based shifts)
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end capital project management within a manufacturing plant environment. The role involves leading processing, packaging, and utilities-related capital projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
The successful candidate will ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with company engineering, quality, and safety standards. This role requires strong coordination with plant operations, maintenance, quality, corporate engineering, vendors, and contractors to successfully deliver capital investment and continuous improvement projects.
The position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing expansion, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure improvements while ensuring operational reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Manage capital projects from initiation through execution, commissioning, and closure
• Support development of capital requisition requests and approval documentation
• Track project budgets, forecasts, and ensure cost control throughout lifecycle
• Translate business and operational needs into technical and equipment requirements
• Lead small, medium, and large-scale manufacturing and facility improvement projects
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including Packaging, Processing, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations
• Manage OEMs, vendors, contractors, and suppliers for project execution
• Ensure compliance with engineering, safety, quality, and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA where applicable)
• Develop technical specifications, scope documents, and feasibility studies
• Support plant layout optimization, material handling, and utilities improvements (steam, air, refrigeration, water systems)
• Oversee installation, commissioning, validation, and handover to operations teams
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction
• Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams for troubleshooting and problem resolution
• Ensure adherence to company standards for documentation, safety, and quality compliance
• Prepare and present project status updates, timelines, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and business priorities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, plant engineering, or capital project environments
• Proven experience in capital project management (CapEx projects)
• Experience in food, dairy, beverage, pharma, or CPG manufacturing preferred
• Strong knowledge of packaging and processing equipment
• Experience working with vendors, OEMs, and contractors
• Strong understanding of manufacturing plant operations and utilities systems
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA preferred)
• Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Technical Skills:
• AutoCAD (Required)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• MS Project or similar project scheduling tools
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems and high-speed packaging equipment
• Understanding of plant utilities (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, water systems)
• Budgeting, forecasting, and cost control experience
Preferred Skills:
• Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement experience
• TQM or similar quality systems knowledge
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments
• Ability to work flexible hours during installation or commissioning phases
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
