Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring timely documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist with specialized care needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, behavioral health support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols, proper use of PPE, and practicing aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care across inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, assisted living, or home care settings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and medical records management.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU or Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Experience with medical-surgical procedures, infection control practices, and working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations such as emergency medicine or urgent care environments.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate attitude toward patient service and caregiving roles.
