In partnership with Integrated Services of Kalamazoo (ISK), we are seeking an accomplished Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide medical leadership for one of Michigan’s most comprehensive behavioral and integrated health organizations.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced psychiatrist and physician leader to shape clinical strategy, influence system-wide care delivery, and remain meaningfully engaged in patient care within a mission-driven organization serving diverse community needs.

The Role

The Chief Medical Officer serves as the Medical Director of Integrated Services of Kalamazoo and acts as the primary medical advisor to the Chief Executive Officer on all matters related to:

• Medical and psychiatric policy
• Clinical treatment strategy
• Quality, safety, and standards of care

The CMO partners closely with the Chief of Staff and Senior Executive of Integrated Health Services to develop, implement, and continually refine a strategic business plan for psychiatric and integrated healthcare services.

Approximately 30% of the role remains clinically active, providing direct patient care, while the remainder focuses on leadership, oversight, and system-level improvement initiatives.

Leadership & Clinical Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee psychiatric and medical services across ISK’s diverse service sites
• Ensure consistent adherence to accepted standards of practice, ISK’s mission, and all regulatory requirements
• Lead through influence while fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
• Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, outcomes, and patient experience
• Serve as a visible, trusted clinical leader internally and within the broader community

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, strategic physician leader who combines clinical excellence with strong communication and relationship-building skills. They are comfortable navigating complex systems while advancing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Required Training, Skills & Experience

• MD or DO with five or more years of psychiatry experience
• Minimum of three years of leadership or managerial experience in a behavioral health setting
• Exceptional communication skills with staff, providers, community partners, persons served, and their support systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build collaborative relationships, and drive change across complex organizations
• Proficiency with standard business software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email)
• Required Licensure & Certifications:
• Valid Michigan Medical License
• Current recognized Board Certification
• Active DEA and Controlled Substance certifications
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License
