TRAVEL: LABORATORY SUPERVISOR

Travel: Laboratory Supervisor

Location: Scarborough, Maine
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–1:00 AM (flexibility of a few hours for start/end times)
On-Call: No call requirement

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory operations and manage staff, including scheduling, work distribution, and performance reviews.

• Ensure adequate staffing and resources to maintain workflow, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

• Provide technical guidance, serve as a resource for laboratory staff, and resolve escalated issues.

• Ensure accurate and timely testing and reporting; investigate abnormal results and troubleshoot testing systems and instrument malfunctions.

• Monitor and improve departmental quality, performance, and compliance with established standards.

• Coach and develop team members, oversee training, and ensure completion of competency assessments.

• Maintain patient safety, employee engagement, service excellence, and effective communication across departments.

• Ensure compliance with departmental policies, organizational procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Identify patient safety risks, document mitigation efforts, monitor safety events, and complete corrective actions, root cause analyses (RCAs), and intensive reviews as required.

• Establish Clients and implement measures to improve hand hygiene compliance.

• Perform clinical laboratory functions when needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience supervising clinical laboratory operations and managing laboratory staff.

• Strong skills in staff scheduling, workload distribution, and team performance management.

• Technical expertise in laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and quality improvement.

• Experience with staff training, competency assessments, and regulatory compliance.

• Ability to maintain accurate testing and reporting while supporting daily laboratory operations.
