Position Concept:
- This position serves as a technical employee supporting O & PM construction and engineering teams, and is responsible for assisting in preparation of field installation contracted work packages; safely direction of contractors work using a ZERO accident philosophy; monitoring contractor environmental compliance, monitoring daily work activities to assure contractors are supporting the overall project schedule.
- Additionally, the Supervisor will review the project design to identify any potential changes and work with contract personal to review and approve any contract change notices.
- The Supervisor will ensure the quality of all work performed while identifying construction critical items that may have potential of impacting the work schedule.
- The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating electrical and controls projects scope of work.
- The Supervisor will monitor the project for work rule compliance.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure quality of work performed and identify critical items that may impact the project work schedule.
- Review project design and identify any potential changes. Review changes with contract personnel for approval of any change notices.
- Monitor and ensure that contractors’ work is done in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Assist in preparation of field installation subcontract packages.
- Monitor all assigned projects for work rule compliance.
- Review contractor progress and critical path activities through regularly scheduled meetings.
- Assist with planning and establishing project schedules and following up on actual performance and productivity against estimates.
- Support Engineering & Project Management efforts to bid, evaluate and award Electrical/Controls contract work.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to contractors and follow work progress on assigned projects. Inspect ongoing work activities to confirm contractor performance to project plans, specifications and monitor/enforce compliance to all regulatory requirements.
- Develop detailed commission and start up activities and schedules with station personnel to ensure proper operation of new and existing equipment. Maintain QA/QC of all assigned work to prevent rework in order to meet outage and non out goals.
Education:
- Required: Minimum high school education. Some construction management training is required.
- Preferred: College degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Required: 10 to 15 years experience in heavy industrial construction or construction management including 10 years of related or equivalent experience in electrical/controls commissioning and start up in a combined cycle power plant environment.
Knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Knowledge of construction codes/standards (NEC) required.
- Previous experience in writing contract scope of work, preparing budget estimates, and working with contract administrators is required.
- Must be able to plan and organize Electrical/Controls projects to support department goals.
- Must possess strong leadership qualities and have team building skills including outage coordination, planning, scheduling, cost controls and quality control experience.
- Technical knowledge of electrical/controls is required, including commissioning and startup, as well as contract administrative responsibilities including supervising contractors.
- Previous experience with computerized work management systems.
Work Conditions:
- The supervisor must be able to work in an operating power plant environment.
- Some nights and weekend work will be required to support outage goals.
- Utilization of PPE will be required. Walking, bending, climbing 20% to 50% of the workday.
- Sitting at a desk / computer workstation up to 50% of the workday.
- Travel – Up to 5%, overnight and extended assignments possible FAT, user groups, shop inspections. Travel from home office to Big Bend, Bayside and Polk Power Stations expected and could be frequent.
- Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the work day
- Working in a Power Generation facility up to 25% to 50% of the work day
- Working conditions could include areas of elevated noise (hearing protection required).
- Occasional “On Call” availability
- Working overtime and/or weekends
- Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Must be physically able to navigate through power plant structure, including ascending/descending stairs/ladders (multi levels) and respond to any contractor emergencies
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
