About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Lab Operations Manager to support our Cell Line and Cell Culture Process Development teams. In this role, you will coordinate daily laboratory operations, oversee equipment and inventory, ensure compliance, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-functioning lab environment. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience in bioprocess or cell culture labs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, basic operation, and calibration of laboratory instruments, including:
- Beckman Coulter ViCell XR/BLU
- Nova Flex / Flex2
- Siemens RAPIDPoint 500e
- OsmoTECH Pro
- Cedex Bio HT
- AMBR15/250
- Conduct pH and dissolved oxygen probe calibrations and benchtop bioreactor maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
- Manage pipette calibration schedules.
- Oversee inventory of consumables, chemicals, and raw materials; remove expired materials regularly.
- Coordinate lab cleaning activities, including freezers, walk-in cold rooms, and biosafety cabinets.
- Develop and update best practice documents and basic procedural SOPs.
- Assist with media preparation, equipment autoclaving, and incubator maintenance.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to manage instrument induction, services, maintenance, and contracts.
- Provide lab updates through reports, emails, and presentations.
- Evaluate and improve lab workflows and equipment scheduling systems.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree 2 years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline
- OR
- MS degree in a relevant field (no experience required)
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration
- Familiarity with cell counters, metabolite analyzers, and bioprocessing tools
- Experience with inventory management and lab operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lab management or supply chain
- Vendor management experience
- Hands-on cell culture experience (shake flask passaging, media prep)
- Experience with benchtop bioreactors and lab scheduling systems
