Job Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for engineering a cohesive and functional controls software programs for advanced packaging systems, machinery, and processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Define project objectives, scope, and technical requirements in collaboration with project managers and clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables within project timelines.
- Plan, and oversee the hardware development life cycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables within project timelines with little guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, Controls technicians, Panel Build, and Advanced Validation Teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Program complex controls software systems, considering uptime, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to recommend innovative software solutions.
- Develop and maintain software design documentation, ensuring compliance with department standards and best practices.
- Responsible for onsite commissioning ensuring operational efficiency of packaging systems and machinery programs meet customers operational requirements.
- Mentor and train level 1 controls software engineers and controls technicians.
- Other duties as assigned by Controls Manager
Qualifications:
- 5-9 years of experience in controls software development.
- Proficient knowledge of palletizing concepts and automation.
- Proficient skills in programming Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI, Drives, and Servos.
- Experience with line control in high-speed packaging lines.
- Strong Robot programming skills for FANUC or Kuka with experience in Palletizing.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and Robotics. (Allen Bradley, Fanuc, and Kuka preferred).
- Computer skills; MS Office Suite.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Other degrees considered on a case-by-case basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time
- Exposure to High/Low voltage environments
- Exposure to elevations
Travel Requirements:
- Travel is required; approximately 30-50% travel
