DIRECT CARE WORKER-SED JOB DESCRIPTION
- Minimum qualification for Direct Care Workers
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Good physical health, pass physical/TB skin test
- Two work references
- Suitable to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Be capable of handling emergencies
- Be capable of completing the necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
- Direct Care Staff must be competent in the following areas before performing assigned tasks, and training classes will be provided:
- Reporting Requirements
- First Aid
- CPR
- Personal Care, supervision, protection
- Resident Rights
- Safety & Fire Prevention
- Prevention & Containment of communicable diseases
- DCW’s must remain up to date with their training; attend any training classes you are scheduled for, and alert the Corporate Office if you need an update. Failure to maintain current training could result in termination of employment.
- Direct Care Worker Job Functions consist of but are not limited to the following:
- Complete CLS/Respite logs 30 minutes prior to shift ending
- Completing daily programs, including documentation.
- Acting as a strong advocate for the rights of residents. Following all treatment plans as outlined in the Person’s Served Plan of Service.
- REPORT ANY ABUSE/NEGLECT IMMEDIATELY.
- Assist person served with outings, documenting outings as needed, and keeping an accurate count of any money. All outings are for people served; no personal business will be conducted while on shift. You may not leave people served alone while on outings.
- Help maintain the quality of the home environment by following the consumers PCP and assisting, prompting, guiding them to complete their goals.
- Sign all logs daily. Logs must match time sheet for hours worked.
- Communicate with support service personnel and parent/guardians.
- Use gentle teaching
- Stay calm and professional at all times.
- Properly complete all duties assigned to you for your shift. Document all logs as needed.
- NO sleeping, abuse, or violation of PCP will be tolerated.
- Communication
Verbal, visual, and written communication skills are essential requirements for DCW’s.
- Participate in staff meetings, program meetings, and other special meetings.
- Carrying out all Integrated Home Help Services, LLC. Policies.
- Direct Care Workers are also responsible for all responsibilities delegated to them by the Supervisor.
