Job Summary:
The Lead Technician at Integrated Information Systems, Inc. (IIS) is a field-based leadership role responsible for overseeing on-site project execution, mentoring technicians, and ensuring systems are installed, serviced, and tested to company standards. This position operates in the field daily, serving as the on-site authority, collaborating with the Field Supervisor, and ensuring that field crews deliver high-quality, code-compliant work across security integration projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Technician Oversight
- Serve as the senior field tech on-site, leading installation crews during projects and service calls.
- Ensure safety procedures, site cleanliness, and professional conduct across the field team.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians in real-time during field work.
System Installation & Configuration
- Lead the installation of access control systems, IP video surveillance, intrusion detection, and intercoms (Genetec, Brivo, Axis, HID, Mercury, DSC, etc.).
- Install, configure and commission systems per project documentation and manufacturer standards.
- Perform field terminations, device testing, and final inspections to ensure quality workmanship.
Project Coordination
- Interface with project managers, GCs, and client site representatives during field execution.
- Provide real-time updates to the Field Supervisor regarding milestones, challenges, and materials needed.
- Assist with redline drawings and on-site documentation.
Quality Control & Safety
- Conduct pre-task planning, job hazard assessments, and ensure OSHA compliance.
- Verify installations meet all NEC, NFPA, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Document punch list items and corrective actions in collaboration with the Field Supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 3 years in physical security integration, low-voltage installations, or similar.
- Technical Competency: Proficient with card access systems, intrusion alarms, IP video platforms, and intercom hardware.
- Field Readiness: Strong knowledge of tools, testing equipment, cabling, mounting, and device wiring.
- Leadership: Ability to direct technicians on-site, manage field scope independently, and uphold IIS standards.
- Certifications: NCASLB preferred. Manufacturer certs (Genetec, Axis, etc.) are a major plus.
- Communication: Must be able to communicate with GCs, clients, and internal teams professionally.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- This role is 100% field-based with daily travel to job sites.
- Ability to travel in-state with overnight stays
- Must be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, rooftops, and in mechanical spaces.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working in varied weather conditions.
