About the Role:
Join the IGS Materials Team — a group that develops and tests cutting-edge materials (alloys, polymers, ceramics, and more) for Fortune 500 companies around the world. Our team supports global business development, operations, and innovation for IGS, the world leader in advanced surface protection.
As a Technician II – Mechanical or Electrical, you’ll work closely with engineers and other technicians to:
- Manufacture and evaluate test materials and experimental coupons
- Build, assemble, and maintain lab and test equipment
- Provide hands-on support across multiple trades (electrical, fabrication, welding, assembly, etc.)
- Contribute to R&D projects that advance our materials and coatings technologies
This role reports to the Principal Materials Engineer and offers exposure to a wide range of technical challenges and growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of test systems and lab equipment
- Support material testing, prototype fabrication, and data collection
- Perform mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting on lab and pilot-scale equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace following 5S principles
- Collaborate with engineers to improve processes and develop new testing capabilities
- Occasionally travel (1–2 weeks per year) to support projects or installations
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to stay organized with minimal supervision
- Willingness to take initiative and help where needed
- Hands-on experience in fabrication or trade work such as electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, or automotive
- Experience in light metal manufacturing or maintenance operations
- Proficient in English (written and verbal)
- Physically capable of moving materials and equipment within OSHA limits
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a lab, engineering, or prototyping environment
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment or control systems
- Knowledge of coating applications (blasting, spraying, etc.)
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or trade school certification in a related field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Automotive, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, etc.) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in one of the above areas

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
