Fleet Manager
*This is a US Corporate position located at our Charlotte, NC office.
Position Overview:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing operations, maintenance, and optimization of our vehicle fleet. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation that supports our business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Manage the acquisition, registration, and disposal of fleet vehicles;
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs;
- Monitor fuel usage, vehicle performance, and driver behavior;
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards;
- Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures;
- Use data to optimize fleet costs, fuel use, and asset utilization;
- Coordinate with vendors for vehicle servicing, parts, and leasing;
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, licenses, and insurance;
- Analyze fleet data to improve efficiency and reduce costs;
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and support staff;
- Ensure DOT, EPA, and local transport laws are followed;
- Prepare reports for senior management on fleet performance and budgeting.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and safety compliance;
- Proficiency in fleet management software and GPS tracking systems;
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills;
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (preferred);
- 3-5 years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with occasional site visits;
- May require availability outside standard hours for emergencies or operational needs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week;
- Travel may be required to meet immediate business demands.
Travel:
- Ability to travel 15% or more of the time;
- Availability to travel on short notice to meet immediate business needs may be required.
Security Clearance:
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
