The Transportation Driver at IBHS plays a vital role in ensuring participants have safe, reliable, and timely access to essential services, including program attendance, medical appointments, and community-based resources. This position goes beyond driving—it serves as a key point of connection and support for individuals we serve. The driver is responsible for maintaining a high standard of safety, professionalism, and compassion while transporting participants between IBHS facilities and external appointments. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to build respectful, therapeutic rapport with individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Drivers are also responsible for accurate documentation, managing transportation schedules, completing vehicle safety checks, and maintaining clean, well-functioning vehicles. At IBHS, the Transportation Driver contributes directly to our mission by helping remove barriers to care and supporting participants in staying engaged in their treatment and journey.
In this role, you will safely transport clients to and from appointments, programs, and IBHS facilities while ensuring a positive and respectful experience. You will maintain accurate trip logs and documentation, perform daily vehicle safety inspections, and keep vehicles clean and well-maintained. The position requires effective communication with staff, clients, and external partners, as well as managing transportation schedules and responding to transport requests in a timely manner. You will assist individuals with boarding, securement, and any transportation-related needs, complete required reports including incident documentation, and ensure all vehicles are properly fueled, maintained, and ready for inspection at all times.
Applicants must possess a valid Nebraska Driver’s License with a clean driving record and have a High School Diploma or GED. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug screening, demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times. This role requires comfort working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, as well as the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
