JOB DESCRIPTION: ANESTHESIA TECHNICIAN
Purpose: To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of an anesthesia department within the clinical setting.
Policy: Anesthesia departments work with a team concept. There must be communication and cooperation with all members.
Requirements:
l. High school diploma or equivalency.
2. Must have sufficient command of the English language to understand both verbal and written instructions.
3. Must be physically able to bend, lift 25 pounds, walk quickly.
4. Must possess hearing and eyesight sufficient to perform tasks.
5. Must possess excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
Reports to: Chairman, Department of Anesthesia/Fairfield County Division Manager
The Chairman will appoint one certified anesthesia technician as the Lead Anesthesia Technician. All technicians will be under the supervision of the Lead Anesthesia Technician.
Responsibilities:
1. Organize and manage the anesthesia workrooms in Main OR, ASC, OB, and any other anesthesia department sites as appropriate.
2. Organize and maintain highly specialized anesthesia equipment.
a. Maintain equipment log.
b. Troubleshoot equipment as appropriate.
c. Establish and maintain a regular schedule of maintenance.
d. Refer serious equipment problems to appropriate vendor/technician.
3. Organize and maintain sufficient medications and supplies.
a. Maintain inventory and vendor list.
b. Ensure sufficient compressed gas canisters for all machines.
c. Ensure all anesthetizing areas are appropriately supplied.
d. Check and maintain medication refrigerator as appropriate.
4. Assist anesthesia personnel with equipment as appropriate.
a. Assembly, calibration.
5. Disassembly and terminal disinfection and/or disposal of all used equipment and supplies according to standards of infection control.
6. Participates in all Corporate Compliance activities as appropriate.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
