Job Summary: The ACT Benefits and Employment Specialist provides employment and SOAR services to individuals served by the Housing First ACT team. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams work with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illnesses who may also have co-occurring substance use disorders and/or chronic health conditions utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed perspective. ACT teams operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill-set by forging therapeutic relationships with community members. Interventions and services are typically provided in the community and require the use of a personal automobile and agency assigned cell phone.

The ACT Benefits and Employment Specialist is a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) who provides employment skills training, participates in diagnostic evaluation, completes assessments, and collaborates with individuals to define and facilitate desired life outcomes. The Employment Specialist may provide all or some of the following: deliver therapeutic interventions fostering skills necessary to manage symptoms, obtain/maintain employment or housing, or help obtain services such as school, medical care, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, legal assistance, and other resources to fulfill needs.

Additionally, the ACT Benefits and Employment Specialist provides support and resources through the SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) process to help adult consumers who are experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness, accompanied by significant behavioral health, medical, and/or substance use disorders.

Staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a clinically licensed professional who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment. At this level, clinical assignments may be of moderate complexity and are handled with considerable independence, and complicated cases receive closer clinical review and supervision.

Services provided may include individual, family and/or group skills training using evidence-based interventions, crisis assessment, and case management.

Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

• Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

• Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday - Friday.

Workhours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Salary: $24.18 - $25.39 an hour based on education, plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.
