Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Homemaker to provide essential support and care to individuals in need. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly with seniors and individuals with disabilities. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being in a home or community setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide patient care and support for individuals with various needs, including those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and preparation
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing household tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes in health status to appropriate personnel
- Administer medications as per care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients
- Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Experience in home health care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is preferred
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for patient assistance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including those with autism or developmental disabilities
- Understanding of memory care practices and techniques for working with seniors experiencing cognitive decline
- Previous experience in social work or direct support roles is a plus
