Job Overview

INTECH Environmental is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Local CDL Class B Operator / Technician to serve our clients throughout Evansville, Indiana and the surrounding tri-state areas. This is a hands-on role, not just a driving job. You will actively operate Vacuum Trucks and Roll-Off Trucks, handle complex equipment setups, and perform critical field technician work alongside your driving duties. With little to no overnight travel required, you will be home daily, executing local industrial, environmental, or waste management services with an emphasis on regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

· Specialized Fleet Operation: Safely drive Class B commercial vehicles, specifically operating Vacuum Trucks (for liquid/sludge extraction) and Roll-Off Trucks (for dropping, positioning, and hauling heavy waste containers).

· Equipment & Field Operations: Transition seamlessly from the driver's seat to the field to operate truck-mounted pumps, vacuum systems, hydraulic levers, and high-pressure washing equipment.

· Technician & Labor Tasks: Perform hands-on technician work including connecting/disconnecting heavy hoses, setting up safety perimeters, monitoring fluid levels, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment on-site.

· Material Handling & Securement: Safely load, pump, and transport chemical, industrial, or hazardous waste; ensure all roll-off containers, valves, and hoses are correctly sealed and secured before transit.

· Local Route Management: Navigate high-traffic urban areas, narrow industrial facility spaces, and tight construction zones across the greater Evansville region on daily designated routes.

· Pre- & Post-Trip Inspections: Perform rigorous vehicle and equipment safety inspections—paying specific attention to air brakes, valves, tank integrity, and placard accuracy for hazardous materials.

· Compliance & Documentation: Strictly adhere to OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), and federal hazardous waste safety regulations; maintain manifest logs, shipping papers, and digital route reports.

Qualifications and Requirements

· Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial driving and heavy equipment operations.

· Licensing: Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or higher.

· Required Endorsements: Current and active Hazardous Materials (HazMat), Tanker (N), and Air Brakes endorsements are strictly required prior to hire.

· Safety Certification: Must be OSHA 10 certified.

· Equipment & Technical Skills: Proven experience operating Vac Trucks and/or Roll-Off systems, with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform physical technical labor.

· Geographic Knowledge: Familiarity with roads and industrial hubs in Evansville, IN and neighboring communities.

· Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, handle physical labor (climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs), and manipulate heavy industrial hoses.

· Screening: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and the ability to pass a DOT physical examination and pre-employment drug screening.

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 45.0 per week
