Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
- Verify insurance coverage through insurance verification processes and update patient records accordingly
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently, including intake documentation review
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately
- Perform billing and collection activities, including medical collection efforts and processing payments
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with coding procedures using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for accurate documentation and billing purposes
- Support office management tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless patient flow within the clinic
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical front desk or administrative support role within a healthcare setting, preferably dental or hospital environments
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), medical billing processes, and insurance verification procedures
- Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills for efficient documentation review and data entry
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems confidently while maintaining professionalism at all times
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental office procedures is a plus for dental clinic experience
