Insurance Lounge is looking for a driven, knowledgeable Group Benefits Manager to manage our employer group clients, oversee renewals, and grow the book through new business opportunities. This role blends account management, strategic advising, and proactive prospecting—perfect for someone who enjoys both service and sales.
What You’ll Do...
Client Management & Renewals
- Serve as the primary advisor for our existing employer group clients.
- Manage annual renewals: gather census data, analyze options, review plan designs, and prepare client-ready proposals.
- Lead renewal meetings—virtual or in-person—to explain changes, strategy, and cost impacts.
- Support employees during onboarding, open enrollment, and ongoing service questions.
- Ensure all group plans stay compliant with state and federal requirements.
New Business & Growth
- Handle inbound new business quote requests.
- Conduct discovery calls, gather data, and prepare competitive market analyses.
- Prospect for new employer groups through networking, referrals, and outbound outreach.
- Maintain a strong pipeline and consistently grow the book of business.
- Partner with our marketing team on campaigns, seminars, and lead-generation efforts.
Ideal Candidate Experience
The strongest candidates will bring experience across multiple funding models and carriers, including:
- Deep understanding of fully insured, level-funded, and ICHRA plan structures.
- Familiarity with our key carrier partners:
- UnitedHealthcare (UHC)
- Regence
- MODA
- PacificSource
- Providence
- Kaiser Permanente
- Ability to navigate quoting, underwriting requirements, contribution strategies, and compliance considerations for each model.
- Confidence advising employers on renewal strategy, cost containment, plan design, and funding alternatives.
Operations & Collaboration
- Work closely with our internal service team for enrollments and plan administration.
- Maintain accurate documentation and activity logs in Applied Epic.
- Represent Insurance Lounge professionally in the community and local business networks.
What You Bring
- Prior experience in group benefits, employee benefits advising, or related commercial insurance work.
- Strong knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, and ancillary products.
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through.
- Oregon health insurance license (or ability to obtain one promptly).
- A consultative, service-first mindset with the drive to grow new business.
