What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer Technician position at INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMERS?
Reports to the QMS and Productivity Leader. Responsibilities include first line technical support and material liaison to Manufacturing, Technical Services and Quality Control. Troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment and related components. Organize and maintain proper operation of equipment and its calibration. Successful candidate must have an understanding of PLC’s, programming, and MFG systems. This is a hands-on position that requires an innovative thinking individual who thrives on challenges.
Essential Functions:
- Comply with all EHS policies
- Knowledge of all phases of industrial wiring.
- Troubleshooting and Repair of electrical equipment circuits, both digital and analog.
- Design and complete construction of custom circuits and test equipment as needed.
- Maintain integrity of plant wide calibration requirements and associated recordkeeping.
- Program PLC’s e.g. GE PC’s and others.
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, logic/ladder diagrams.
- Drive productivity projects related to automation of test equipment and related electronic and/or electrical gear.
- Knowledge and experience of retrofitting and installing solid state drives and controls.
- Understanding of analog and digital controls.
- Perform other general duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide training and mentoring as needed.
- Complete construction of custom circuits and test equipment as needed.
- Support and work with Manufacturing Engineers in productivity projects.
- Participate in Lean/5s events.
Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and implement Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Demonstrated project completion skills in a multi-tasking environment.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.
- Working understanding of automation techniques including pneumatics, fluid dynamics, and logic circuitry.
- Electromechanical troubleshooting skills for controls equipment including but not limited to: PLC, HMI, Servo Drives, Motors, VFD
- Familiar with Programming (ladder logic, scripting, function blocks)
- Able to work directly with suppliers with minimum supervision to size, select and install components and/or equipment.
