What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist- 3rd Shift position at INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LLC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Team Leader and General Manager. The machinist will begin to set-up with proper instruction and learn basic 3-axis programs; draw a part in CAD.
Hours: 9pm-5:30am Monday- Friday
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBITIES:
- Read refractometer to maintain proper concentration and coolant levels.
- In addition to setting tools and making offsets in tool page, load a program and establish work holding positions and make minor program edits.
- Edit individual tool feed rates to establish SFM (Surface Feet per Minute) and related chip loads.
- Read, interpret, and understand blueprint specifications to methods of manufacturing (MOM) per routing.
- Identify when to replace dull tooling before catastrophic failure.
- Complete any and all paperwork as required; Job Traveler, VISTA, etc.
- Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.
- Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Tape measure and hand tool experience is desired
- Minimum: hands-on experience working with a variety of CNC Machines
- Previous experience working in manufacturing is desired, however, on-the-job training will be provided.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must meet be able to perform all the duties and responsibilities of Machinist-Level 2.
- Ability to set-up and adjust work holding devises.
- General understanding machine types and their applications.
- Ability to understand and comprehend industrial math.
- Strong knowledge of technical GD&T drawing and reading skills.
- Ability to understand quality standards and gauging.
- Basic understanding of hard gauging checks on granite table.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds intermittently.
- Ability to stand 100% of workday and occasionally bend or twist.
