Role Description
This is an on-site Optometrist role based in Baltimore, MD. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage visual or ocular conditions, and provide appropriate treatment and vision care for patients. They will also prescribe corrective lenses, monitor eye diseases, and ensure compliance with procedures and documentation standards specific to a correctional healthcare setting. Collaboration with healthcare staff to manage patient care is a key aspect of this role.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye exams, including the use of diagnostic tools to evaluate visual and ocular health
- Expertise in diagnosing and managing common eye conditions and diseases
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients and healthcare teams
- Ability to work in an institutional setting and ensure compliance with professional and legal standards
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Active state optometry license for Maryland
- Experience in correctional healthcare or underserved populations is a plus
