Project Manager - Plastics (Medical Center)

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Project Manager to support the Division of Surgical Innovation and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist, located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate a diverse innovation portfolio spanning clinical research, medical device development, engineering collaborations, and external partnerships.

This is a unique hybrid position that combines project management with high-level executive support for division leadership. You will manage projects from initiation through completion — tracking timelines, budgets, and deliverables — while also serving as the operational right hand to the Division Chief: coordinating a complex calendar, triaging correspondence, and preparing briefing materials that keep a fast-moving innovation program on track. Your initiative, discretion, and organizational excellence will directly support work that advances patient care.

Responsibilities

Project Management

• Coordinate the division's active projects from initiation through completion, tracking timelines, budgets, and deliverables across clinical, engineering, and partnership activities.
• Develop project scopes and objectives with all relevant stakeholders, monitor milestones, identify potential barriers to progress, and work toward timely resolution.
• Coordinate vendor and prototyping engagements in support of active projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and cost-control objectives.
• Prepare progress reports, business cases, and presentations with compelling data for institutional leadership and external partners.
• Maintain organized and confidential project records, including materials related to intellectual property and unpublished technical work, consistent with institutional policy.
• Serve as an effective liaison between multiple client groups and stakeholders across various levels of management, clinicians, and external partners.

Executive & Administrative Support

• Manage calendar coordination and meeting logistics for division leadership, including scheduling across multiple institutions and external partners, resolving conflicts, and ensuring preparation materials are complete in advance of each meeting.
• Triage and coordinate division correspondence and communications, drafting routine responses for review, tracking outstanding items to closure, and ensuring timely follow-up with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare agendas, briefing materials, and follow-up documentation for internal leadership, external partners, and clinical commitments.

Finance & Budgeting

• Track project expenditures against approved budgets and provide supportive financial documentation to aid in the evaluation of project effectiveness.
• Complete timely and accurate expense reports as determined by leadership.
• Utilize efficient and cost-effective work practices with department resources and supplies; provide recommendations to reduce expenses.

Growth & Innovation

• Participate in strategic planning for the division and actively contribute in meetings, driving decision-making and clearly identifying next steps.
• Generate and communicate new ideas that improve quality or service, and seek opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Three years of experience in a related discipline, managing multiple projects of a complex nature for a significant duration. (A Master's degree combined with a Houston Methodist Fellowship satisfies all experience requirements.)
• Advanced spreadsheet skills, including creating pivot tables, performing v-lookups, and managing large data sets; intermediate word-processing and presentation software skills. Familiarity with Workday is a plus.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to conduct effective presentations and communicate professionally and persuasively verbally and in writing.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, project, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative — resourcefulness, independent action, and sound judgment in evaluating and acting on methods for solving problems and meeting objectives.
• Professional handling of exposure to confidential and sensitive information.
• Flexibility and adaptability in the face of changing demands.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, project team members, physicians, and internal stakeholders.
• May require travel within the Houston Metropolitan area. Business professional attire.

Pay: $74,776.86 - $90,053.85 per year
