Job Title: Worship Leader (Part-Time)
Reports To: Lead Pastor
FLSA Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week, $25/hour)
Compass Church, a two-year-old, growing church plant in Cape Girardeau, MO, exists to create space for more people to encounter the unconditional love of God. We are a community of worshipers who are curious about God, growing in authentic relationship with Jesus, and living lives transformed by the Holy Spirit.
The Worship Leader cultivates and leads meaningful, Christ-centered worship experiences that invite people—both seasoned and exploring—into an encounter with God. This role combines musical leadership, team development, and service planning, helping shape a culture of authentic worship, discipleship, and community.
We are seeking a Worship Leader who can vocally and instrumentally lead contemporary worship with an openness to incorporate blended elements, and work collaboratively with musicians in a co-shared worship space requiring efficient setup and teardown between services alongside another Methodist congregation. This role requires a leader who is comfortable building systems and growing a ministry in a developing church environment.
- Lead weekly worship services with excellence and authenticity
- Plan and select music in collaboration with the Lead Pastor
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer musicians and tech teams
- Schedule and lead rehearsals; provide materials in advance
- Oversee service elements including slides, sound, lighting, and livestream
- Manage Planning Center Services for scheduling and communication
- Maintain music database, licensing (CCLI/streaming), and equipment
- Coordinate worship space setup, including décor as needed
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing worship planning
- Mature and growing follower of Jesus
- Skilled in contemporary and blended worship leadership and instrumental performance
- Strong team builder who invests in people over programs
- Organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented
- Effective communicator with a collaborative spirit
- Comfortable working in a co-shared ministry environment
- Familiar with worship technology and production tools
- Humble, teachable, and emotionally intelligent
- Sunday morning leadership, including setup and rehearsal
- Ability to navigate a 45-minute transition between services
- Additional weekly hours for planning, communication, and preparation
- $25/hour, 20 hours per week
