Candidate need to take night shift hours (4 pm – 10 pm). As a Robot Operator you will run our AI-powered robotic grinding cells in a metal casting environment. You will be responsible for loading and unloading parts, monitoring automated grinding processes, inspecting finished parts for quality and collaborating closely with engineers to keep the system running smoothly. You will also make small adjustments to system parameters and simple Python configuration files. This role is fully on-site at our Pittsburgh, PA facility and will begin on day shift for onboarding and training, then transition to night shift.Responsibilities• Operate and monitor AI-powered robotic grinding cells during production runs.• Safely load and unload metal parts (up to 50 lbs) into and out of the robotic cell.• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, consistency and surface quality; identify defects.• Follow established operating procedures, safety protocols and quality standards.• Troubleshoot minor issues (e.g. part misloads, sensor flags) and escalate when needed.• Make small adjustments to system parameters or simple Python configuration files under guidance from engineers.• Document observations from the line and communicate them clearly to the engineering team.• Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area, including basic maintenance tasks.• Contribute feedback and ideas for improving reliability, throughput and part quality.QualificationsAbility to lift and move parts up to 50 lbs.Willingness to start on day shift and transition to night shift after training.Ability to read and understand basic Python code (e.g. simple configuration files).Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Reliability, good communication skills and a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (grinding, noise, dust with PPE).Education and preferred backgroundBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related technical field;OR relevant hands-on experience in automation, CNCs, robotics, industrial machinery or manufacturing operations.Strong candidates may also have:Experience with CNC machining, metalworking, automated equipment or robot operation.Basic programming or scripting experience (Python preferred).Exposure to machine setup, part inspection or quality control processes.Prior mechanical or technical roles where troubleshooting and problem-solving were key.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work, wants to be close to real industrial robots and is excited to grow their skills in automation and AI-driven manufacturing.Compensation and benefitsCompensation: $40/hr, depending on experience and shift structure.6 month contract-to-hire structure, with the possibility of conversion to full-time based on performance and business needs.We are able to sponsor international candidates who require work authorisation, including F-1 STEM OPT and H-1B.Health-care benefits are available for full-time employees.How to applyApply on the platformor please send your résumé and a brief introduction to HR@instinct-robotics.com.Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Salary : $35 - $40
