Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the CIO to develop and implement networking strategies aligned with the City's IT roadmap.
- Lead the design and deployment of innovative networking solutions.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends in network architecture.
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based networking solutions.
- Evaluate and deploy new technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and security.
- Plan and execute network expansions and upgrades.
- Ensure continuous uptime and availability of network systems.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation.
- Implement firewalls, encryption, IDS/IPS, and access controls.
- Conduct audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response.
- Use monitoring tools to track bandwidth and traffic patterns.and load balancing.
- Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Ensure backup, replication, and failover systems are in place.
- Evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance.
- Develop and track networking budgets, identify cost savings, and forecast future needs.
- Work across departments to align networking goals with organizational objectives.
- Communicate plans, policies, and updates to stakeholders.
- Identify areas for operational improvement.
- Leverage technology to enhance efficiency and team performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Communications, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10-15 years of infrastructure and data center experience, with at least 3 years in leadership roles.
- 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience in large-scale data center operations.
- Network Systems Certification (e.g., JNCIP) or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and vendor management skills.
