Title: System Administrator
Location: Virginia (remote)
Duration: 6 month contract
Compensation: $40.00/hr

Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Systems Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure within a secure government contracting environment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience across Linux and Windows administration, cloud platforms, identity management, and infrastructure operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence while supporting ongoing modernization and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows server environments
• Manage and support AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure
• Administer Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 environments
• Monitor infrastructure performance, system availability, backups, and patch management activities
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and application-related issues
• Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and system resiliency initiatives
• Implement and maintain infrastructure automation using scripting and automation tools
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and identity services
• Support virtualization, cloud-native technologies, and containerized environments
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams on infrastructure modernization projects
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to infrastructure performance, security, and scalability
Required Qualifications
• 5 years of Systems Administration or Infrastructure Engineering experience
• Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, or SUSE)
• Windows Server administration experience
• Active Directory administration experience
• Microsoft 365 administration experience
• AWS and/or Azure cloud administration experience
• Experience managing enterprise production environments
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with system monitoring, patching, backup, and recovery processes
• Working knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and TCP/IP
Preferred Qualifications
• Kubernetes administration experience
• Docker, Podman, or containerization technologies
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience
• Ansible or other configuration management tools
• PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting languages
• CI/CD pipeline support experience
• Microsoft Entra ID and Identity & Access Management (IAM) experience
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments
• Government contracting (GovCon) experience
• Familiarity with CUI, CMMC, or NIST 800-171 environments
