The Role
  • In this position, the Senior Platform Engineer will design, build, optimize, and manage infrastructure and platform services. Responsibilities include DevOps, site reliability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and enabling enhancements across Data & AI platforms in alignment with organizational strategy. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as IAM, Networking, Cloud Operations, Security, and business stakeholders to support integrations, automate processes, improve platforms, and deliver new initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Cloud infrastructure engineering
  • Networking expertise
  • Automation capabilities
Core Platforms & Technologies:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Databricks
  • Terraform
Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Direction
Set clear expectations, define team objectives, and ensure accountability for deliverables. Align team priorities with the Azure and Databricks platform roadmap and broader enterprise standards.
Technical Leadership
  • Define and oversee technical strategy for Azure and Databricks, including networking and security design (VNets, Private Endpoints, NSGs, routing, Azure Firewall), identity management (RBAC, PIM), and Databricks governance (Unity Catalog, workspace setup, cluster policies). Maintain best practices for security, cost efficiency, and system reliability.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery to platform users while meeting defined SLAs/SLOs and operational targets.
Process Optimization
  • Continuously refine operational processes and standard procedures to increase efficiency and automation. Develop reusable Terraform modules for Azure and Databricks resources to support scalable and consistent deployments via Terraform Cloud/Enterprise and CI/CD pipelines.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Establish strong partnerships with data engineers, analysts, and platform users. Communicate proactively with internal teams such as Security, Cloud Ops, Networking, and Data Governance to align goals, manage expectations, and promote platform standards.
Monitoring & Issue Resolution
  • Identify and resolve performance challenges across Databricks workloads, clusters, SQL warehouses, and Azure services. Implement monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, including dashboards and alerts for system health, performance metrics, and cost tracking.
Site Reliability Engineering
  • Quickly assess and resolve platform issues to meet reliability targets. Implement practices such as error budget tracking, post-incident analysis, and resilience improvements (e.g., autoscaling and retry mechanisms).
Incident Management
  • Provide support during critical incidents, including after-hours coverage. Lead incident handling, stakeholder communication, and root cause investigations with clear follow-up actions.
Observability Solutions
  • Design and deploy logging and monitoring frameworks to enable early detection and actionable insights. Standardize log ingestion from Databricks and Azure resources into Log Analytics, with dashboards and alerts to minimize downtime.
Release Management
  • Manage and improve infrastructure and platform release processes using Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and source control tools like GitHub or Bitbucket. Ensure controlled, secure, and repeatable deployments through approvals and automated validation.
Pipeline Implementation
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and analytics workloads using Terraform, Docker, and Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions. Automate deployment workflows, validation checks, and security scanning.
Secrets & Credential Management
  • Implement secure secret management using Azure Key Vault and HashiCorp Vault. Integrate with Databricks and enforce least-privilege access controls, along with credential rotation policies.
Vendor Collaboration
  • Work with platform and technology vendors to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and adopt new features aligned with enterprise strategy.
Mentorship
  • Guide junior engineers on best practices for development, deployment, testing, and support within Azure and Databricks environments. Encourage automation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 15 years of IT experience within large, globally distributed organizations
  • 5 years hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (networking, security, identity, compute, storage, PaaS)
  • 5 years working with Databricks on Azure (workspaces, jobs, clusters, SQL warehouses, Unity Catalog)
  • 5 years using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform; familiarity with ARM/Bicep is beneficial)
  • 5 years working with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), including automated testing and security controls
  • 5 years of programming/scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell; Go is a plus)
  • 5 years experience with containerization (Docker, AKS, or Databricks-based workloads)
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, RBAC/PIM, and zero-trust security principles
  • Deep understanding of data platforms such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Databricks Lakehouse (Delta Lake, SQL Warehouses), along with integration tools like Event Hubs and ADLS Gen2
  • Solid grasp of SDLC practices and GitOps methodologies
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) and governance through IaC and policy enforcement
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Management, or a related discipline
Work Environment
  • This team operates as a technology partner focused on transforming how employees work globally.
  • The environment emphasizes inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, and curiosity.
  • Team members have opportunities to work alongside experienced professionals from leading technology organizations.
