Position Location
Insports is home to one of Connecticut’s largest indoor multi-sport venues, providing premier facilities and a wide variety of year-round programming for kids, youth athletes, families, community members, and recreation enthusiasts.
Our 108,000 square feet of versatile indoor space is equipped with three hardwood courts, a 100-yard convertible turf field, and a boarded box arena. Our additional 10,000 square feet of outdoor space accommodates our kids summer camp and other health and wellness activities.
As a prime destination for youth sporting events, adult recreation programming, and community activities, we proudly serve Trumbull, Connecticut, and the surrounding Northeast region.
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Facilities Director who takes pride in rolling up their sleeves to keep the facility running at its best. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the day to day operations, troubleshooting issues, managing vendor relationships, and taking personal ownership of day-to-day facility care. The Director will lead maintenance, field/playing surface readiness, safety, and facility improvement efforts across the complex.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Hands-On Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Perform and oversee daily maintenance of all playing surfaces, restrooms, equipment, indoor turf, courts, storage areas, etc.
- Conduct turf grooming, variety of repairs, netting inspections, and minor electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work.
- Implement a proactive preventative maintenance plan and perform routine checks.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe equipment and storage areas.
- Operate equipment (e.g., utility vehicles, lifts, power washers, field groomers) as needed.
Team Oversight & Scheduling
- Lead by example with a strong work ethic and presence in the field.
- Train and supervise staff on expectations and general oversight of facility.
- Create daily and weekly task lists and manage shift coverage for event prep and recovery.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Conduct facility inspections for hazards or safety issues and resolve them promptly.
- Maintain logs and records for safety audits, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and local code requirements.
Event and Tournament Support
- Prep fields, turf, and common areas before tournaments and events.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment, tents, signage, and more.
- Provide immediate on-site troubleshooting during events (e.g., lighting, plumbing, access issues).
General Site Appearance & Guest Experience
- Ensure high visibility areas are clean, functioning, and guest-ready at all times.
- Respond quickly to cleanliness, safety, or operational concerns from guests or staff.
- Serve as an on-site presence during high-traffic days/weekends.
Qualifications / Requirements
- 5 years of hands-on facility, field, or building maintenance experience; sports venue preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of tools, equipment, turf maintenance, and facility systems.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong leadership with a team-first mentality and a commitment to excellence.
- High school diploma required; technical certifications or trade experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical work daily.
- Must be able to work independently and respond to issues urgently.
