Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, and group homes. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients
- Monitor vital signs and report any significant changes in health status
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning based on dietary needs
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties
- Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction
- Document patient observations and report any concerns to healthcare professionals
- Provide specialized care for individuals with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or personal care assistance is preferred
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and HIPAA regulations is essential
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism or developmental delays
- Familiarity with memory care techniques and dementia care strategies is beneficial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life
- Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed to accommodate client schedules
