PCA Personal Care Assistant

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those in geriatrics and various medical settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in diverse healthcare environments, including hospitals and clinics.

Duties

• Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Support clients with mobility and transfers, ensuring their safety at all times.
• Help with meal preparation and feeding as required.
• Monitor and document client health status and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks related to the client's care area.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals in various settings such as inpatient units, clinics, or trauma centers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in personal care or related fields such as geriatrics or medical-surgical environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with working in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals is a plus.
• Knowledge of hospital medicine practices is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations, demonstrating strong communication skills.
• Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
• Certification as a Personal Care Assistant or equivalent training is beneficial but not required.
