Join our dedicated team as a One-on-One Support Specialist and make a meaningful difference in the lives of school-aged children. In this role, you will provide individualized, compassionate support to a child with developmental and behavioral needs, including a history of elopement (wandering), helping them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive environment.

Working closely with families, & the lead teacher, you will implement individualized behavioral interventions while ensuring the child's safety and promoting independence. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in behavioral health and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while making a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one behavioral support.
• Maintain continuous supervision of a child with a history of elopement, ensuring their safety throughout the school day and during transitions.
• Implement individualized safety plans and proactively monitor for behaviors that may indicate an attempt to leave supervised areas.
• Use positive behavior support strategies and approved de-escalation techniques to safely redirect the child when necessary.
• Escort the child during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, field trips, and other school activities while maintaining close supervision.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, feeding, toileting, and other self-care tasks while promoting independence.
• Collect, record, and maintain accurate behavioral data to monitor progress and support treatment planning.
• Support the child in classroom and school settings by implementing behavior intervention strategies aligned with ethical ABA practices.
• Collaborate with behavior analysts, teachers, therapists, school staff, and families to implement and update individualized care plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding progress, behavioral goals, and effective intervention strategies.
• Document behavioral observations, safety concerns, and any elopement-related incidents according to agency and school policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational documentation standards.
• Foster a safe, structured, and encouraging environment that promotes learning, emotional regulation, social development, and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Knowledge of ABA principles, behavior management techniques, and behavioral data collection.
• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviors, including elopement prevention and crisis intervention, is preferred.
• Understanding of special education principles and individualized behavioral support.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation, and home- or school-based behavioral services is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with children, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Patient, dependable, observant, physically active, and able to maintain close supervision throughout the school day.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
