Job Summary:
The Literacy Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted, research-based literacy instruction to students who are struggling with reading and writing. By using data-driven strategies, the interventionist works closely with classroom teachers to develop and implement individualized or small-group interventions designed to close reading gaps, enhance literacy skills, and promote a love for reading and writing in students. The role focuses on students who are below grade level in reading, writing, and comprehension, providing them with the support they need to succeed academically. This position is a temporary position, covering responsibilities for a maternity leave for our long-term interventionist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume primary responsibility for the provision of Tier II and III math support, as outlined in the MTSS Guiding Document.
- Deliver targeted literacy instruction grounded in the science of reading to individuals and small groups of students identified as needing intervention, both in and outside the classroom.
- Monitor student progress regularly, maintaining detailed records of student performance, small group session attendance, and growth.
- Participate in weekly collaboration meetings with teachers and leaders to review progress and adjust instruction during support sessions accordingly.
- Engage families in their child’s learning progress through conferences and direct communication.
- Stay current on research-based instructional practices and intervention strategies in literacy development.
- Display professionalism at all times as a role model for the students and guardian of school mission, core values, and culture
