Providing pediatric therapy to children to support the needs of developmentally disabled individuals through speech-language therapy. The SLPA will deliver services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in home, community, and clinic settings. SLPA Responsibilities:
- Implement therapy plans developed by supervising SLP, including direct speech-language therapy services.
- Support developmental screening/assessment efforts under the SLP’s guidance.
- Educate family members and caregivers on intervention strategies to facilitate carry-over into home and community settings, as directed by the SLP.
- Provide therapy in clinic-based settings, with occasional services in community or home environments.
- Document session notes and progress reports accurately and submit them within agency deadlines.
- Adhere to individualized service plans and collaborate on treatment planning and recommendations.
- Maintain client records and ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with ABA and OT staff, when applicable, to ensure cohesive care.
- Independently manage schedule to achieve a minimum productivity of 28 billable hours weekly.
- Communicate scheduling needs and changes promptly.
- Complete mandatory safety and professional training as required.
- Attend clinical team meetings, professional development events, and trainings.
- Participate in special projects, including new hire orientation and team trainings as needed.
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients and families.
- Accept and apply feedback regarding clinical and administrative performance.
- Utilize 100% of client’s authorized billable hours.
- Convert all Central Reach sessions by the end of the day they occur.
- Maintain certification and licensure to ensure active status.
SLPA Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- Valid SLPA license in the state of California.
- Experience working with children from birth to 21 years old is preferred; new graduates welcome.
- Proof of annual or required updated training maintained on file for review.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases including but not limited to driving personal vehicle, walking, and/or use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
- The ability to climb and descend staircases
- The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly
- The ability to sit on the floor, kneel, and/ or crawl for extended periods
- Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, holding, manipulating small objects, pointing, and other similar movements
