Position Summary

The Engineering Project Manager (EPM) is accountable for the engineering scope, technical integrity, and engineering execution of assigned EPC projects. The EPM serves as IFG’s technical representative to clients, vendors, and subcontractors and is responsible for ensuring engineering deliverables are safe, compliant, constructible, and aligned with project cost and schedule objectives.

The EPM does not own the overall project contract, commercial terms, or total project budget. Instead, the EPM partners closely with the Project Manager (PM), who retains responsibility for overall project delivery, cost, and schedule. Together, the EPM and PM function as a unified project leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Execution

  • Plan, execute, and control basic and detailed engineering for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Select and validate design concepts, technologies, and materials appropriate for industrial, manufacturing, and process‑driven facilities.
  • Lead multi‑discipline engineering teams (mechanical, chemical/process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural as applicable).
  • Ensure engineering deliverables support safe construction, operability, and maintainability.

Scope, Schedule & Budget Management (Engineering)

  • Develop and manage the engineering scope of work, engineering schedule, and staffing plan.
  • Monitor engineering progress and costs; partner with the Project Manager to maintain alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Support change management by evaluating technical impacts of scope changes and assisting with change order development.

Client, Vendor & Field Interface

  • Act as IFG’s technical point of contact with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Review vendor submittals and technical documentation.
  • Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Participate in field reviews and resolve technical issues encountered during construction.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Support hazard reviews, constructability reviews, and quality assurance processes.
  • Promote safety‑in‑design principles throughout the project lifecycle.

Talent Development & Collaboration

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and designers.
  • Assist department leadership with training, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role may provide technical direction, mentorship, and performance feedback to engineers and designers. Direct supervisory responsibility may vary based on project size and staffing.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Combination of professional office environment and active construction sites.
  • Occasional exposure to field conditions requiring PPE.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed for site activities.

Position Type, Schedule & Travel

  • Full‑time, salaried position
  • Core availability during standard business hours; additional hours may be required to meet project needs
  • Periodic travel, including overnight travel, based on project phase and location

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Mechanical or Chemical)
  • 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience in EPC or industrial project environments

Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Mechanical engineering: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Professional Engineer (Required)
