What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Manager position at Insite US?
Connecticut | Full-Time
We're partnered with a thriving mid-sized CPA firm in Connecticut looking for an experienced Private Client Tax Manager who thrives on building relationships and solving complex tax challenges. If you're tired of being just another number at a mega-firm but want more growth opportunities than a small practice can offer, this might be your perfect fit.
You won't just be buried in returns all day (though you'll definitely prepare some). As a Private Client Tax Manager, you'll be the go-to person for thier high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and families who need more than just basic tax prep.
Your day-to-day includes:
- Managing a portfolio of sophisticated individual and family clients
- Preparing and reviewing complex federal and multi-state tax returns
- Leading tax planning conversations that actually make a difference in clients' lives
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff (yes, you'll have a team)
- Collaborating with our estate planning and business advisory teams
- Staying ahead of tax law changes (we'll pay for your CPE, obviously)
You're a CPA with 6 years of public accounting experience, and you've moved beyond just "getting the work done" to actually enjoying the strategy behind it. You've worked with high-net-worth clients before and understand that a $50,000 tax bill requires a different conversation than a $5,000 one.
Must-haves:
- CPA license (Connecticut preferred, but we can work with reciprocity)
- 5 years of public accounting experience with a focus on individual taxation
- Experience with high-net-worth clients and complex returns
- Solid grasp of multi-state taxation, trusts, partnerships, and S-corps
- Leadership experience or a strong desire to develop it
- Client relationship skills that go beyond "here's your tax bill"
Nice-to-haves:
- Estate and gift tax experience
- Family office or private wealth experience
- Proficiency with CCH Axcess or similar professional tax software
- Experience with tax projections and multi-year planning strategies
- They're big enough to handle sophisticated work but small enough that everyone knows your name. Partners are accessible, decisions get made quickly, and good ideas get implemented regardless of who suggests them.
- This isn't a "stay in your lane" environment. If you want to get more involved in estate planning, business advisory, or even firm management, they'll support that journey.
- Yes, tax season is busy. But they staff appropriately, set realistic deadlines, and don't expect you to live at the office from February through April. Most of their team takes real vacations in July.
- Competitive base salary (Up to $150,000 depending on experience) plus performance bonus, full health benefits, 401k with firm match, flexible PTO policy, and professional development budget.
You'll be joining a firm that's been around for 30 years but thinks like a startup when it comes to serving clients. Their clients stay with them for decades because they actually care about their success, not just their compliance. You'll have the resources of a mid-sized firm with the client relationships of a boutique practice.
Salary : $150,000
