About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, proactive IT Specialist to keep our HIPAA-compliant medical office running securely and smoothly. You’ll provide hands-on support across Windows and Mac, harden our environment against risks, and partner with leadership to improve our tech stack—so clinicians and staff can focus on patient care.
What You’ll Do
- Provide friendly, timely IT support across Windows and Mac environments (desktop, laptop, peripherals).
- Set up, configure, and troubleshoot hardware/software, including Wi-Fi/network gear, printers, scanners, and office A/V.
- Implement and enforce IT security controls to maintain HIPAA compliance (disk encryption, secure access, MFA, least-privilege, device hardening).
- Monitor and manage system backups, OS/application updates, and security patches.
- Triage incidents, identify root causes, and resolve issues efficiently; escalate to vendors when needed.
- Provision, reassign, and retire employee laptops with secure imaging and data-wipe procedures.
- Maintain clear IT documentation (inventory, network diagrams, SOPs) aligned to internal policies and HIPAA requirements.
- Advise leadership on technology improvements, security upgrades, and cost-effective tooling.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience supporting both Windows and macOS in a mixed environment.
- Strong grasp of IT security fundamentals (MFA, encryption, endpoint management, patching, backups, logging).
- Familiarity with HIPAA and safeguards for PHI within clinical/admin workflows.
- Hands-on experience with device lifecycle: provisioning → support → deprovisioning.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and time management; calm under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-moving setting.
Nice to Have
- Admin experience with Google Workspace (users, groups, SSO, security).
- Familiarity with centrally managed IT platforms (e.g., Rippling, MDM/EMM tools).
- Relevant certifications: CompTIA Security , Microsoft, Apple, HIPAA security training, etc.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
Work Style & Requirements
- Onsite presence in NJ at least 1 day per week; additional remote hours as needed.
- Occasional off-hours maintenance windows (patching, updates) by prior agreement.
