Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Collect and process biological specimens through venipuncture, blood sampling, and other collection methods, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Perform laboratory tests including ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), flow cytometry, immunoassays, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and blood banking procedures with accuracy and consistency.
- Manage laboratory data efficiently using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ensure all records are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Conduct clinical laboratory procedures aligned with established protocols for specimen analysis, testing quality control measures, and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
- Assist in clinical trials by preparing samples, performing assays, recording results, and maintaining meticulous documentation for research integrity.
- Maintain laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, microscopes, and analyzers through routine calibration and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Support laboratory management activities including inventory control of reagents and supplies, safety compliance checks, and documentation of laboratory activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals by providing timely test results and interpreting data related to physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology.
- Ensure proper specimen collection/processing procedures are followed for accurate testing outcomes while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique.
- Monitor vital signs when applicable during sample collection or patient interaction in hospital settings or clinical environments.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to blood banking practices, venipuncture techniques, phlebotomy procedures, and specimen handling to protect both staff and patients.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of laboratory techniques including ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, blood banking, and specimen processing.
- Strong data management skills with experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for record keeping and data analysis.
- Proficiency in clinical laboratory procedures with a solid understanding of medical terminology related to hematology, microbiology, immunology, and physiology.
- Hands-on experience in clinical laboratories or hospital settings involving blood sampling (venipuncture), phlebotomy techniques, vital signs monitoring, and aseptic procedures.
- Ability to perform complex assays accurately while troubleshooting technical issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with laboratory management tasks such as inventory control, equipment maintenance, safety compliance checks, and documentation standards.
- Excellent analytical skills for interpreting test results within the context of clinical information or research parameters.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams or research staff while maintaining confidentiality.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols including blood banking practices and handling potentially infectious specimens.
