We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. This role requires proficiency in various nursing practices and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the well-being of patients undergoing medical and surgical treatments.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Monitor vital signs, perform patient assessments, and document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Assist with procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, and wound care.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, medication administration, and post-operative care.
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards and hospital policies.
- Participate in discharge planning and case management to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide support for patients with diverse needs including those with developmental disabilities, memory care requirements, or chronic conditions.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing or related fields such as ICU, emergency medicine, or acute care is preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) for documentation and patient management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) and NCQA standards is advantageous.
- Skills in critical care procedures including airway management, venipuncture, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
- Experience with specialized treatments such as dialysis, botulinum toxin treatment, or pain management is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating compassion and empathy towards patients.
