Director of Nursing (DON) – Travel Contract
Location: Bangor, ME 04401
Pay: $90/hour on W2
Contract: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Schedule: Varied shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead nursing services at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Bangor, Maine.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily nursing operations and patient care
- Manage nursing staff, schedules, training, and performance
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations
- Develop and implement nursing policies and standards of care
- Monitor infection control, medication administration, and clinical documentation
- Lead quality-improvement and corrective-action initiatives
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy staff, and department leaders
- Participate in the nursing department’s on-call schedule
Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered Maine RN license
- BLS/BCLS certification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience
- Nursing management or leadership experience
- Long-term care experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Additional Details:
- On-call pager pay: $4/hour
- No holiday coverage required
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week assignment
