JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be able at a minimum to perform all STAT testing in the department (all areas of the laboratory).
- Provide testing assistance as needed in any department based on the immediate needs to assure that patient care is the first priority.
- Provide leadership and supervise/manage all aspects of quality assurance and staff testing competence and competence verification.
- Make decisions, solve problems, develop and document necessary aspects to assure full compliance of all testing standards.
- Be familiar with all compliance standards published by CAP, CLIA, AABB, IDH, OSHA, and any other regulatory agency such that the laboratory is in full compliance with the law.
- Must have a working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations Title 42/Chapter IV/Subsection G Part 493-Laboratory Requirements
- Ensure that all Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards are met by staff.
- Reads, understands modify and edit under the direction of the medical director and laboratory administrative director applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
- Prepares reports, presentations and other information summarizing work activities.
- Assist the Medical Director as needed on off-site CAP inspections
- Prepares various analyses as needed to highlight issues and resolve questions.
- Review, modify, edit and as needed write policies and procedures to assure the laboratory is in full compliance with regulations.
- Resolve all technical problems in the microbiology area with the aid of the technical staff and ensures that remedial action is taken whenever a test deviates from the laboratory’s performance standards
- Ensure that all patient results are not reported until corrective actions have been taken and the systems are functioning properly
- Identify training needs and ensures all training is performed as required
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution; ASCP certification preferred and.
- ASCP certification.
- Have at least 4 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing for the specialty in microbiology.
- 1 years' supervisory experience.
- Have a basic knowledge of 493.909 Microbiology, 4493.915 Mycology, 4493.915 Mycology, 4493.915 Mycology, 493.917 Parasitology, 493.919 Virology.
- Computer proficiency and working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
