What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Optician position at InSight Vision Center?
We are a busy, well-respected Ophthalmology office in Fresno looking for a friendly, experienced, and motivated Optician to join our team. This isn’t just another optical job — it’s a chance to lead and shape the direction of our in-house optical shop and have a real voice in its growth.
Our optical department is small but expanding, and as our solo optician, you’ll enjoy autonomy and the opportunity to make your mark on everything from product selection to process improvements.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. No weekends or holidays.
What You’ll Do
- Be the go-to expert overseeing the entire optical shop — from fitting and dispensing eyewear to guiding its look, feel, and operations
- Partner directly with practice leadership to develop and refine policies, inventory, and marketing initiatives
- Work from prescriptions written by our Ophthalmologists/Optometrists to verify, fit, and dispense eyewear
- Evaluate eyeglasses, perform repairs/adjustments, and design eyewear tailored to each patient’s needs
- Maintain a professional relationship with providers and staff while delivering an exceptional patient experience
- Manage and replenish inventory, verify and bill major insurances (VSP, Eyemed, Spectera, etc.), and prepare sales reports
What We’re Looking For
- Strong sales and customer service skills, with an eye for current fashion trends
- Highly self-motivated and organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities
- Solid knowledge of glasses repair and EMR or similar computer systems
- Bilingual in Spanish (required)
- Minimum 1 years working with Vision/Optics/Optometry or as an Ophthalmology Assistant (2 years preferred)
- Optician Certification preferred
