POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Medication Coordinator (AL)is responsible for overseeing the Assisted Living medication administration program and its staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee the Medication Coordinator’s daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with medication administration protocols and regulations.
- Train Medication Coordinators on proper medication management procedures.
- Conduct regular audits of medication records to ensure accuracy and adherence to protocols.
- Develop and implement medication management policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate residents’ medication needs.
- Ensure safety protocols are in place to ensure residents’ safety.
- Address and expedite changes in residents’ health and behavior, possible side effects of medication to appropriate leadership.
- Respect and uphold residents’ dignity, privacy, and independence.
- Supervisory Responsibility: No.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Experience:
- Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Medication Coordinator.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional communication skills in English, enabling effective interaction with residents and staff through both verbal and written means.
- Ability to lead teams.
- Utilize electronic devices and software provided, especially electronic health records.
- Understanding of basic healthcare principles or practices.
- Familiarity with medication management protocols, including knowledge of common medications, dosages, and administration techniques.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Awareness of common health conditions affecting older adults.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Capability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.
- Problem-solving abilities to promptly address concerns or complaints, with the ability to quickly pivot from one task to the next.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships.
