One of our nonprofit clients is seeking a Vice President of Operations to join their leadership team in Downtown Los Angeles. This role is 5 days per week onsite, with limited local travel to additional facilities in the area.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Operations provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial accountability for day‑to‑day operations across Maintenance, Custodial, and Health & Safety departments. This role supports operations at the organization’s main facility and two satellite campuses, ensuring facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day operational functions across maintenance, custodial, and safety departments
- Recruit, develop, and lead high‑performing, mission‑aligned teams
- Partner with the CEO on operational strategy, vision, and execution
- Collaborate with the CEO and VP of Human Resources to coach and mentor future leaders
- Work closely with Finance, Development, and HR on daily operational needs
- Maintain financial accountability; monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions
- Provide quarterly operational reports to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors
- Oversee asset inventory, preventive and routine maintenance planning, and staffing
- Ensure continuity of daily services across all facilities
- Plan and support major events, meetings, and conferences
- Conduct annual evaluations of mechanical and structural systems
- Provide input on new construction projects and facility renovations
- Build and maintain partnerships with relevant government and private agencies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, or a related field
- 10 years of progressively responsible operations or leadership experience
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑department operations
- Strong financial, organizational, and people‑leadership skills
