What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer position at Insight Global?
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to design, develop, and support automated test fixtures and validation equipment used in product development, manufacturing, and reliability testing. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design expertise with electrical hardware integration and software development skills, particularly in LabVIEW.
In this role, you will design custom electro-mechanical test fixtures, jigs, and automated test systems that support product validation and production testing. You will create detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks while developing and maintaining LabVIEW applications for automated test control, data acquisition, instrumentation communication, and reporting.
The successful candidate will integrate electrical components such as sensors, actuators, relays, motors, power supplies, DAQ systems, and test instrumentation into reliable and repeatable test solutions. You will design and troubleshoot wiring schematics, harnesses, and control systems while interfacing with equipment including National Instruments DAQ hardware, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, environmental chambers, and motion control systems.
Working closely with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Test Engineering teams, you will perform design reviews, tolerance analyses, root cause investigations, and system troubleshooting to ensure robust fixture performance. You will also support fixture fabrication, assembly, verification, and validation activities while driving continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing test time, increasing fixture uptime, and improving overall product quality and reliability.
Additionally, you will generate and maintain technical documentation including test fixture specifications, assembly procedures, electrical schematics, user manuals, and validation reports.
